Our Leadership

Robin McGehee

That early work sparked a lifetime of civic engagement—from helping lead Meet in the Middle for Equality, to co-directing the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. in 2009, to co-founding GetEQUAL. Along the way, I participated in peaceful civil action to call attention to the need for equal treatment under the law, including advocating for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and “Defense of Marriage Act." I later witnessed the same legislators I had protested sign the repeal of both DADT and DOMA.

Today, I organize nationally with a focus on youth engagement in Florida and community-led Pride efforts across Mississippi. I also serve as the City of Fresno’s LGBTQ+ Liaison in the mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, where I work to build understanding, strengthen relationships, and foster dialogue across differences.

Everything I do is rooted in one goal: helping move our culture from polarized to mobilized, by reminding Americans that we share more values than we often realize, and that lasting progress comes from listening, collaboration, and working together.
