Meet in the Middle
Meet in the Middle for America (MITM) will be an event in Kansas City, Missouri, taking place weeks after our nation celebrates its Semiquincentennial. The timing is intentional: we gather not simply to acknowledge our past, recognize our present, but to launch us forward towards the future, to shape the next chapter of American democracy as we move into the November
midterm elections.
After MITM, organizers will return home inspired to own their power in civic engagement by
hosting quarterly Meet in the Middle neighborhood meetups, town halls, picnics or competitive
events, all working to strengthen the communities around them.
Local organizers who are unable to travel to Kansas City will plan solidarity events:
- Host house parties
- Town hall gatherings
- State capital meetups
This effort is bigger than gearing up for the 2026 midterms. Our goal is to build a sustainable coalition, determined to organize. This is about the next 250 years—and whether we keep the republic.
Meet in the Middle Summit Breakdown:
WHO:
In collaboration with rural farmers, Main Street USA, and every city and community in-between, we welcome every American - citizen or resident - who understands the middle invites conversation, compromise, and empathy; those who understand the fight isn’t between each other, but against those who seek to keep us divided. MITM is for the American who is ready to plan, organize, and fight back against government overreach, special interest allegiance, and complacency by our elected representatives. MITM is for the disenfranchised Democrat, Republican, or Independent who is seeking direction, support, a workable middle, and inspiration to go from polarized to mobilized.
WHAT: MITM invites like-minded people to experience their power in numbers, meet their political home-team, and build relationships with others from across the country. MITM combines a convention, rally, and festival to include speakers, entertainment, trainings, and organizational coalitions. It will serve as the foundational support when attendees go back to
their communities to organize and connect their neighbors to a national movement for political
change and accountability.
WHERE:
Kansas City, MO — We will meet in the middle of our country, NOT IN DC, but in the heartland. A symbolic & strategic location, where the true work begins and spans out across the country. Kansas City represents America's middle in both geography and economic and political makeup. To realize a thriving democracy, this movement must build outward, from the middle to the coasts, powered by the people most impacted by consolidated power and wealth.
WHEN:
Taking place weeks after our nation celebrates its Semiquincentennial. The summit will be held at the end of the summer, strategically placed to build momentum for the November midterm elections.
HOW: Starting in January 2026, over an eight-month period a national network of grassroots organizers will recruit community members and organizational partners to attend the
Meet in the Middle Summit, either at the national event or by organizing local solidarity events in their own communities, on the same weekend.
The outreach created to promote MITM will be used to build Together Across America regional organizing and action hubs. These TAA hubs will continue to grow and be utilized after MITM for future civic engagement.
