Mission & Values

Our Priorities

Together Across America (TAA) is dedicated to building a national network that bridges growing political divisions by mobilizing a broad, diverse, multi-issue, intersectional movement. TAA is a national effort to brand a campaign for change. TEAM TAA brings people together, neighbor to neighbor, community to community, across party, race, gender, sexual orientation, geography, culture, immigration status, and class. It serves as a hub, a nucleus of impassioned organizers, change-makers, leaders, and everyday Americans who are ready to take bold action within their communities.

Our Mission

Build a city, county, state and national network that is collaborating on a clear campaign to move from polarized and separated to mobilized, Together Across America. We believe in the power of grassroots organizing and we are determined to build a nationally branded campaign that works to connect an intersectional movement that stands together for change.

Our VALUES are simple:

The first step - take the pledge by joining Team Together Across America (TAA).

Second, begin by creating a network, it can be your actual neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, or simply people online — asking others to take the TEAM TAA pledge as well.

Once we know who our neighbors are, we’ll work to build our community, organize locally, and take civic action TOGETHER!

We’re more powerful together. Work with Team TAA to get the training, tools, and support to turn conversations into action. Let’s build this movement, city by city, county by county, and state by state, until it is an undeniable national movement that is unwilling to turn a blind eye to those who are trying to divide us. Civic engagement works when we GetTOGETHER! GetENGAGED! GetINVOLVED! GetACTIVE!

Mission & Values

Our Story

Frustrated by political division, we were inspired by an event that happened 40 years ago, a national effort called "Hands Across America.” On May 25, 1986, over 5 million Americans united with a human chain stretching from Los Angeles to New York. Their effort was to raise awareness about the poverty and homelessness that plagued our country. Its lasting legacy was a powerful symbol of national solidarity. Today, our nation faces a new challenge, one of profound political and social division. Communities across the nation are increasingly isolated.

Civil discourse has been replaced by hostility, and instances of outright political violence have become commonplace. At a time when our nation desperately needs cooler heads to prevail, the flames of division are only fanned by our elected leaders and media institutions who seek to consolidate support behind their agendas. It is up to us –ordinary Americans– to Meet in the Middle of our communities, not to compromise, but to organize for a better tomorrow. The intervention we need is clear, a modern “Together Across America" movement that reminds Americans from all backgrounds that we have more in common than what sets us apart, and divides us. By physically standing in solidarity, ready to take action, in the center of the country or at a local event in the county, city or state that you reside, we will reconnect as fellow citizens, and fundamentally disrupt the cycle of polarization and division engineered by the forces who want to divide us. We believe we must build a nationally branded campaign message that stands united, not for a candidate or ballot initiative, but a people's campaign that stands in opposition to the division and chaos that is being pushed on the other side. Join us, Together Across America!
